Genting - New Found Interest - February

Went on a one-spontaneous-day trip to Genting with my friends. The 13 of us; 8 guys and 5 girls, met up at Gombak LRT at 8.30am and off we went. It was FUN. =D It have been quite sometime since I last went up to Genting. And to have the adrenaline rush in my body is AWESOME!! We all screamed our lungs out from all the extreme rides we went on. Corkscrew, Flying Coaster, Pirate Ship, Flume Ride and all the whatnot. The sad part, SPACE SHOT WAS UNDER MAINTENANCE. =(

Recently, I've got a new found interest. Trinkets/Jewellery making!! =D Few months back I realised that there were many young ladies out there who actually make their own jewellery. I found it really fascinating but never really did want to try it. Until just few days back when I stumbled upon this blog http://beads-and-pieces.blogspot.com/ . Those pieces on the blog are really pretty and feminine. And this time it really got me going!!

The next day I was so pumped up! I went out and tried finding for a shop (that i once know) that sells all the materials and tools needed to kick start my new found interest, but to no avail. Maybe they shifted/shut down. =( So, if anyone of you out there know any shops/suppliers that sell materials such as charms, beads, bronze/silver plated chains, bronze/silver connectors, etc. do let me know okay?? Thanking you in advance. Also a huge thanks to a few of my friends who are lending a hand by asking their friends for such shops. You guys know who you are... *wink wink* =D

Mind you, my dear friend Jennifer Cheng is already asking me for a piece of trinket. I really hope I'll be good at this. Then I can turn it into a hobby and have the satisfaction of making my own jewellery! One of a kind in the whole wide world! =D

La' Mode Coiffure & Delicious All in a Day

Sui Ying was complaining about her rebellious hair, and she wanted to tame those long locks on her head. After all, hair is a girls' crowning jewels. We decided to meet up at Mid V for a short outing. It's actually our first outing in KL. =S

Met her in front of Giordano and I automatically noticed that her hair is all tie up in a pony tail. *thinks* She's definitely having a bad hair day... We had our lunch at Carl's Jr. and it was my very first time there. It's actually a fast food chain, similar to McD; but the food there is definitely WAY BETTER than McD. The burgers there are mouth-watering. =D

Headed for the informational board to search for a saloon that will be able to tame Sui Ying's hair. We founded a place call QQ Cut, and that place has a very unwelcoming feeling about it. It's just the whole setting and layout...it looks like a dangerous place to work on a girls' crowning jewels. AND THEN, we founded this place call La' Mode Coiffure on the first floor. I warned Sui Ying that it was going to be really pricey just by the outlook of the whole shop. She insisted. I couldn't stop her.

We were welcomed and being seated. Along the way I was busy staring around at all the HOT guys working there. =D When Sui Ying untie her pony tail, I knew she needed a lot of HELP with her hair. Then this super duper HOT guy came along and asked Sui Ying about how she wanted to cut her hair. And Sui Ying answered, "Don't know...". I almost smack myself. So I asked Mr Hottie to suggest what she should get instead. OMG. HE'S VERY HOT. And his name is Elmer Tay! Go google him!! He has a FB fan site! The entire time, Sui Ying was SO busy flirting with Elmer. It was very obvious okay Sui Ying.....

So my dear friend got her hair cut. It looks SO different from her old one. It looks lighter and bouncier for ONE day. Haha. Unless she manage to take good care of her hair...

After walking into a couple of shops looking at clothes, trying on shoes...but ended up buying nothing; we decided to have high tea at Delicious. =D

First Post For 2010

As promise, here’s my updated post Jenn.Yeah, I know. It took me some time. Well, it’s up now!! I’ll just summarise it.

Had a great deal of fun in Taiping, that’s for sure; although I’ve only been in Taiping for slightly more than 2 weeks. So here’s the list of activities that I did thoroughout the 2++ weeks :-

~ Movies (Avatar & Old Dogs)
~ Sepetang (foodie trip!! As well as a visit to Ngah Ibrahim’s house)
~ Boating (row,row,row your boat…which includes an exclusive’ National Geography’ episode on monitor lizards)
~ Xmas Party (dined at Prima Café, took photos in the middle of the road, went to the playground, drank at Flemington)
~ New Year Party (dined at Pizza Hut, watched break-dancing competition at Bukit Jana)
~ Bowling (Shea Yuin’s FIRST time bowling experience!!)
~ Roller-blading (it’s my very first time, poor TeeXin got bruises on her knees)
~ Karaoke session (got high with Teexin,Jenn and Shea Yuin)
~ Helped out mommie at work on the first week of January (handling kids is a challenge…and I had to speak mandarin to save my life!!)
~ Made early CNY goodies (deep fried poppiah with chicken floss fillings, deep fried seaweed snacks)
~ Went to Sui Ying’s (chit-chatted, drove to Pokok Assam for laksa)
~ Went to Shea Yuin’s (for spa treatment…HAHA, to online, to check my MUET result)
~ Went to Jenn’s (to online, chit-chatted)
~ Went to Tee Xin’s (for movie…FACE OFF!!, chit-chatted)
~ Coronation Pool (with Jenn, TeeXin, Agnes and Serena)
~ Class reunion (at Gate Café)
~ Yamcha session (at Gate Café with Mizen, Shuh Pyng, MeiChen and the usual gang)
~ Went to Ipoh (shopping)
~ Went to Penang (shopping, foodie trip)

And then I spent one more week of my holidays in KL. I had to come back to KL earlier because of the ‘Welcome Freshmen Concert’ for the January 2010 intake. The concert was AWESOME!! I have no regrets joining the committee to organize this concert. The friends that I meet were an AWESOME bunch of people. All the fun we had, plus the craziness of each committee just made the whole experience even better!! Even during meetings, it was just filled with funny and crazy moments. HAHA.

List of activities that I did and enjoyed during my last week of holidays in KL :-

~ WFC (preparing the decorations, ushering and a whole lot of craziness!!)
~ Movies (3D Avatar…gosh, it made me dizzy!! , The Spy Next Door)
~ Ice Skating (my first time and it was fun!! Roller-blading definitely helped in terms of balancing)
~ Archery (I wasn’t bad for a first timer. managed to hit the target a couple of times)

Now for the more down-to-earth part, I just started my new semester. SIGH. So very soon I’ll be dealing with a busy schedule as usual. MID-TERM TEST. ASSIGNMENTS. LAB REPORTS. Oh well, I guess it’s back to BAU(business as usual) tasks. Prioritising is what I need to do!! When life gives me lemons, I should make lemonade out of it. Or, at least just do something with it! So, when life gives you lemons, just do something with it!! You can…

1.) make lemonade.
2.) cook them.
3.) sell them on eBay.
4.) add them to some vodka.
5.) squeeze’em for all they’re worth.


Just bloody do something with it!!!

Goodbye 2009

In less than 8 hours, I'll be happily boarding a bus back to Taiping. I just hope there wouldn't be much of a traffic jam. It's already a hassle trying to get back home during the school holidays, and now with Christmas just two days away; chances are that I might be caught up in an exodus. Anyways, the thought of me spending my time in Taiping overwrites all my worries about the jam. Wee... :D

It's really ironic how my perception on holidays changes so quickly within the past two semester. Previously, going down to KL=holiday! And I'll be extremely excited about going to the malls, having a taste of different food, and the whole feeling about being able to spend my holidays in a city like KL. Now, since I've been living here for the past two semester; going up to Taiping=holiday! This time I'm all pump up to go to the lake gardens, having yam cha at siang malam, eating cheap and delicious food, and the urge to just get away from my hectic life!! Yeah...no matter where we are, the grass seems to always be greener on the other side. Come to think of it, I do take Taiping for granted.

I still remember how I always wanted to get out from Taiping and just grow up!! You can try asking my dad. I kept telling my dad how I would just like to grow up quickly and see the world!! You know, just to be OUT THERE...by myself. Being independent. Being all grown up. Well, this is the time when I have to go back and tell my dad that I wish I could do high school all over again. I'm expecting a "I told you so!!" from him. I know I'm going to get it.

Honestly, I dread the New Year; every single year. However, this coming new year I have more to worry/dread. Besides the thought of having to crack my head on what I would pen down as my new year resolutions; this inkling thought of turning 20 is like a nightmare to me. It's haunting the soul out of me. I wonder if Jane and Shuh Pyng feels the same as February is approaching. To be frank, I'm feeling rather sad/down about next year. :(

I guess I should just enjoy my holiday to the fullest, and just let it be. There's no way I can stop myself from turning 20. I'll consider myself lucky as I have two other February babies to share my 'sorrow' with. Haha. I'll get back home, hang out with my friends, go paint the town red, relax and rejuvenate, catch some movies, drown myself with Taiping food, and whatnot!! So peeps, call me anytime or drop by my house anytime!! We have loads to do!! :D

I got this link and started to listen to it. And while I was listening to it, I laughed my head off as the song started reminding me of my childhood. I forgot who was it, maybe it was my bro or some cheeky relative of mine; but SOMEONE did teased me by singing this song to me when I lost my two front teeth. I was around six or seven at that time.

After that, I grew up to not only have my two front teeth; but two front rabbit teeth. HAHA. Do listen to this song. It's really cute and it'll cheer you up! :D

Weekend Treats

So my parents came down to KL last weekend for a visit and it was GREAT. Mom brought home-cooked food all the way for the whole house. Having home-cooked food for dinner was really satisfying. Oh how I miss home....:(

During the weekends, bro took us around for shopping and for food trip. :D Went to Pavilion for the very first time and I was in awe by just looking at the building from the outside. Walking into Pavilion gave me a sense of elegance that comes with a huge price of course. Mind you, the parking ticket was freaking RM9!! 3 bucks per hour is just insane! And the boutiques in Pavilion are meant for window shopping, LITERALLY; at least for me. What made me smile though, was the spectacular Christmas decorations; accompanied by Christmas music at the background made the whole atmosphere even more joyful. After all, it's the season again!!

How can someone not love Christmas? Every year on the month of December, I'll go all goo-goo-ga-ga over Christmas because of the sales and also the whole vibe and mood. Believe it or not, I've started listening to Christmas songs since early November!! It's a really a good feeling. :)


Lunch time, bro took us to this awesome place called La Bodega@Pavilion. And boy oh boy...the food there are heavenly, however sinful it is to my body. This place serves really good Spanish food and provides a really nice and soothing ambiance for dining. There is a bar with shelves filled with liquor bottles and a place where they hung up old historical Spanish photos. People should at least come to La Bodega once for the experience, especially to those who love food. And if you have the money to throw around, get a pint of Hoegaarden or Stella. A couple of shots as well if you want to experience a hungover the next day.

The following day we went to 1U. Personally I find 1U one of D-best places to shop. EVERYTHING is just there, all under one roof. I've walked every corner and corridors and sadly, I didn't manage to get any clothes from 1U. There weren't anything suitable to buy!! Maybe I'm picky. :( And again, we stopped by this stall called Nyonya Colors where it's famous for it's Nyonya Kuih. The laksa at this stall was quite nice as well.



For dinner, we went to this corner shop, Restaurant Lucky Loke Yeah I know...what a typical name for chinese shops. Here, their specialty is the deep fried tilapia and the oh-so-awesome frog soup. For those who enjoy soups with heavy taste of pepper corn should really go for the frog soup. It has the OHM factor!!

So, technically my whole weekend with the family is more like a food trip. Which of course I'm not complaining besides the fact that I didn't manage to buy anything to fill my closet. But it was great. My belly was happily full throughout the weekend. :) Even my bro felt guilty conscious about his additional weight to his 'one pack'. Tehee :P Still, food is always a bliss!!

I'll be going back to Taiping tomorrow. So far my plans are to catch the movie New Moon and to crash into Ng's place for a baking session which we haven't done for quite sometime. Additional plans will be considered thoroughly as I'm suppose to be on my study break. A SHORT session of yam cha should be fine. :)

Knight time??

Hmmm...

Okay. So this article entitled 'Knight Time' was obviously written by a guy whose name I forgot; it was Nick something. The article is about the 'Art Of Manliness'; which is chivalry. Chivalry is a system of behaviour which was first practised by knights during the medieval time. So Nick over here wrote this article based on his own experienced; about how to be a modern knight in today's world. Below is pretty much the summary of the article:-

Generally the first thing for a man to do is to be gracious and to respect a woman. Simple things like opening the door for a lady and letting them enter first, giving your umbrella/coat to a lady when it's raining if not offering her a ride back, helping a lady with the heavy package/luggage and the list goes on. Opening a door for a lady doesn't mean she's feeble. A solicitously hand proffered doesn't mean she's incapable. Those are several things that a man could do in order to be chivalrous to ANY kind of lady which doesn't bring any meaning of sexual interest what so ever because chivalry is also about knowing what's suitable.

However on the other hand, to really treat your SPECIAL lady; the guy will have to go a distance a little bit more.For example, holding her hands when crossing the streets, call her when you promised to do so, be generous with your compliments, buy her flowers on normal random days, or text her just to make her day. And since now it's the modern world, woman may want to split the cost of meals, showing that she is able to care for herself and that she's not looking for anything from you. She may want you to be equals and wants to make decisions together. As Nick has learnt it the hard way, woman of today would like her man to make decisions
with her and not for her.

According to Nick, the reason why in today's modern world there are fewer and fewer 'knights' out there is mainly because woman of today now demands for equality. However this doesn't mean that chivalry has to come to a total stop. Nick happily said that his act of being chivalrous to any lady has so far been accepted by the lady in a gracious manner. The only time he had it was when he wasn't chivalrous or sensitive enough! And to Nick; good manners reflect a person inner value, chivalry is no exception.
