KL

Got here on Monday(25 May) but I only started unpacking two days later…..(procrastinating= yanming)

Orientation this week. Yippie…. (note the ‘excitement’ in my voice)

June 1st will be my first day as an undergrad. Hurray.... (note the ‘eagerness’ to learn)

So what do I think about KL. It may sound very cliché but I’ll still mention it here. KL is busy. KL is complicated. KL is so inconvenient but yet convenient in a certain way. Simply put, KL is so not Taiping. As soon as I step foot here, my spending power decreases by approximately two times; if not three times. Going out by car would means getting stuck in a traffic jam, although my area here is not that bad when it comes to traffic. And not forgetting, driving in KL=getting lost. We seriously need to start recognizing roads and landmarks.

On the other hand, we generally don’t have problem moving around; thanks to my housemates who have cars. So distance is not really a problem for us. I’m also glad that public transports are easily available near my condo. Taxis are right in front of my condo. Buses and LRT are within walking distance. And when I’m on my balcony at night taking in some ‘fresh’ air, this is the view I get….

The actual view is way better

I wanted to take a photo of this view in the daylight, but the sky was kind of hazy. And I could barely see the concrete jungle out there. So, did I experience any culture shock? Well, maybe a little. It’s more like an eye-opener to be exact. Am I ready as an undergrad engineering student? NO. Nobody is. Hah, wish me luck. Cause I need it as I don’t exactly know what I am getting myself into. I’m like a blind mice digging its’ own grave (although I know mice don’t dig graves). From now onwards its either sink or swim, do or die. To succeed or die trying.

Angels & Demons

I went to the cinema at Taiping Sentral with Ng and SuiYing on Wednesday. On the way there, in Ng’s car, we almost got bang by a van while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. This particular van was queuing up in front of our car. And when the traffic light turned green, instead of going into first gear; the driver went into reverse gear and almost reversed into our car! Luckily that van stopped in time; about an inch away from our car. The rest of the way to Taiping Sentral,Ng and I went…”What the hell was that driver thinking?!@$%#@!!”

On another note, the movie that we decided to watch: Angels & Demons(translation in Malay: Antara Malaikat dan Jin). We found the translation in Malay rather amusing. Although there are some parts of the movie that I found it a little disturbing, the two-and -a-half-hour-long movie is generally okay; to be specific it was mediocre. And this time we did not have any irritating kids with a flu; pleading his mom to go back home.

Half way into the movie I started to shiver. I took my flip flop off, folded my legs and tried to keep my hands warm. At the corner of my eye I knew Ng was cold as well, but SuiYing doesn’t seem to be feeling the cold. She took her shoe off and was comfortably sitting with her legs up on the front seat. I should consider bringing a jacket the next time I go to a cinema.

Lately, I had been listening to 1234 by Plain White T’s whereby the whole song is accompanied by guitars. Simplicity at its best. I simply love that song! :D
